The Producers

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

I went to see The Producers on Thursday night, at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, and had a very very good night. The story, the cast, and the company were great.

It’s not as good as the original film of course, but then Mel Brooks is, a genius!

Cory English was absolutely fantasic as Max Bialystock and John Gordon Sinclair was very good as Leo Bloom. I was very surprised to find out that Peter Kay was in it, but he did a reasonable job as Roger DeBris.

It’s nice to see that even on a professional show such as this, the cast (and probably crew) are as childish and immature as we are at Gang Show. Peter Kay was constantly ad-libbing to put the others off, and Emma Jane Appleyard’s accent as the Swedish Ulla became more and more silly as the night went on.

Premiership Footballers are big Girls!

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Seriously, last two weeks of March were Gang Show. Much ale was consumed (all hail the 1816), many late nights were had, and bugger all exercise was taken. The week after, I broke my PB for 5k twice.

Easter Camp was four days of heavy drinking, with bugger all exercise, and some very late nights. Yesterday I smashed my PB for 3k by 40secs despite running with injuries sustained from Bucket Rugby (some of them Explorers are big!).

If I can do that - given that I’m fat and unfit - and “Freddie” Flintoff can sink pedalos for England and still play on, why can’t Premiership footballers?

UPDATE

And now I’ve just gone and knocked 20secs off my 5k PB. It’s official, beer makes you run faster!

Easter Camp

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Well, the fun is over for another year!

First time in a number of years since I’ve done Easter Camp, and it was fun. Made new friends, pissed someone of, threw a lot off eggs, and drank a lot of beer. Perfect weekend.

Maybe as a fundraising exercise for next year’s camp, Network should release a book - “INCOMING! - How to make friends and influence people, the Marple way [eggs not included]”.

Weekend Sporting Results

Eggs - Thrown 300+ - Eaten 3

Football - Cobden lots - Kinder no where near as many

Bucket Rugby - Network + Cub Leader 5 - Explorers + a girl (urgh!) 4

Rounders - All games won by which ever team Fallon’s was on (Cardiac Arrests supplied by Flash at no extra cost)

Number of Rangers who learnt the value of a well tied draw string in their shorts - at least one!

No photos this time as I was either asleep, at work, drinking or otherwise occupied.
