“it’s worse than shite”
Although these photos have been in the gallery for quite a while, what with the server move, and other things, I’ve never got round to posting a link here.
First up is Alec and Michelle’s wedding, at the Moorside in Disley.
And secondly are a selection of Mum and Dad’s wedding photos. Me and our kid put together a little display for Mum’s birthday last month, and whilst I had the album out, I scanned a few in.
It’s been a while since I posted anything here, so a quick update.
I’ve recently moved all my websites away from DSVR due a series of recent up-time issues. Now whilst no one can guarantee 100% up-time, because let’s face it, shit happens, the problem I (and a great many of DSVR’s customers) have had is that the feedback to customer’s has been appalling! Now, DSVR ain’t cheap, if the were, their level of customer service would be acceptable. But there’re not. Ever since they were bought out by Legend, their customer service has plummetted! Add that to a feature set which hasn’t been upgraded since I first joined them almost 4 years ago! At the beginning of the year (when I first started looking around for a new host) they doubled my storage to 600mb - which put me off changing, because at the time although there had been a couple of outages, my main issue was that I was running out of space due to all the photo gallery’s I’ve got.
So, I’ve been moved my sites to celebrity bloggers favourite, Media Temple. Not only does everybody rave about how good they are (which in fairness to DSVR everybody raved about them 4 years ago when I moved there), but their feature set is pretty impressive. I’m getting a shed load of features, and a shit load more HD space - 2 gig! - on their basic shared hosting plan, than I was getting on DSVR’s V300 virtual server plan. And it’s a hell of a lot cheaper - Media Temple is £88 for two years where as DSVR was £350 for one year.
I realise when I was comparing feature sets that I only use the added control a Virtual Server gives me to run cron jobs - something which the Media Temple support monkeys will set up if you ask nicely. And so I might as well save the money and go with a shared host. Beside, if I come across a feature of a Virtual Server which I just can’t live without, I can always upgrade to a Media Temple Virtual Server, which would still work out cheaper than the DSVR offering, whilst getting even more bang for my buck!
